What does a home hardening assessment cover?
The assessment considers the building exterior and the surrounding area agreed for the visit. We document visible conditions and access limits so maintenance, replacement work, and specialist questions can be considered together.
- Roof edges, gutters, accessible vents, and visible exterior gaps.
- Windows, frames, siding, eaves, and connections to decks or fences.
- Vegetation, accumulated debris, and combustible items near the building.
- Access limits, unknown materials, and details requiring a specialist’s review.
Separate immediate maintenance from installation work
Findings should distinguish observed conditions from details that remain unknown. For example, a concealed deck connection or unreadable vent label needs further investigation before a material or repair is specified.
Use those findings to sequence debris removal, vegetation care, exterior repairs, and component replacement. Identify which tasks need a specialist, permit, product selection, or additional access before estimating the work.
What to prepare before a visit
- Your address, access arrangements, and the concerns you want to discuss.
- Available plans, photographs, product information, and previous work records.
- Any request or checklist from your local fire authority or insurance provider.
- Your timing and budget priorities, including work you want to phase.
Agree the assessment record and next steps
Before a visit, confirm the review area, assessment fee if applicable, photographs or written notes to be supplied, and how follow-up priorities will be presented. Installation pricing follows a defined scope and any necessary specialist review.
Tell us if your insurer has requested specific mitigation evidence. Assessment records can organize the information needed for that conversation; they do not themselves establish a certification, structural survey, insurance acceptance, or discount.
Arrange an assessment conversation
We prioritize the Greater Bay Area and San Diego County. For other U.S. locations, ask about project availability. Call (347) 987-9521 to discuss your property and confirm address-specific availability, timing, and scope.
Plan your home-hardening project.
Share your property address and the vulnerable areas you want to address. Confirm availability, assessment scope and installation options before scheduling work.
