A1 EMBER GUARD / PRODUCT GUIDE / IN DEVELOPMENT

How to select home hardening products.

Compare a component’s intended use, documented performance, fit, and installation requirements before choosing it for your property. This guide covers vents, fence assemblies, and supplemental exterior sprinklers. A1 Ember Guard’s product offering remains in development.

1. Describe the intended use

Identify the exact location, dimensions, adjoining materials and access constraints. State the job the component is meant to do and the building functions it must preserve. For example, a vent review needs to consider airflow as well as the opening itself.

2. Identify the actual product

Record the manufacturer and model, not only a category name. Request the current specification and installation instructions. Check which dimensions, materials and configurations are included in the proposed selection.

3. Read the supporting evidence

Review product-specific test reports, required listings and the conditions they cover. A reference to a test method is not proof that an unnamed product passed it. Ask the installer or appropriate professional to confirm how the evidence relates to the proposed use and local requirements.

4. Agree the installation and support

Define who will verify fit, complete the work and retain the installation record. Clarify the manufacturer’s warranty, supplier support, exclusions and maintenance responsibilities. Any availability, price or delivery commitment should be confirmed for the actual product.

5. Keep the property plan connected

Component choices belong alongside the rest of the building and landscape plan. Retain specifications, photographs and care instructions so future maintenance can refer to what was installed.
